Post Malone is the latest celeb to hop on the NFT craze by dropping almost $1 million on two non-fungible tokens from one of the most coveted digital collections around.
The “Sunflower” singer-songwriter just joined the popular, Bored Ape Yacht Club, by purchasing ape #961 and #9039 for a combined total of 160 ETH. As of now, 1 Ether equals $4,689.03 – so Posty dropped a total of $734,401.60 on his two Bored Apes.

According to the TikTok account, @moonpayhq, Post could be seen making the NFT purchase on OpenSea, a popular marketplace for NFT sales. “My friends are gonna love this, they’re going to freak out. They love the cryptos, NFTs,” Post could be heard saying while the 6-figure purchase was processed.
Meet Post Malone’s Bored Apes
After his payments went through Post Malone became the proud new owner of two Bored Apes. They are quite a good-looking pair, with one of the digital primates sporting a full grill of sparkling teeth with rainbow suspenders, while the other seems to have suffered some unfortunate injuries.
The rapper did find one attribute shared between his apes, as they are both sporting cowboy hats – something Post Malone has been known to wear every now and then.
Celebrities Love Bored Apes
As NFTs become more mainstream, celebrities are now showing off their digital collections as a status symbol. The Bored Ape Yacht Club has become the upper echelon of NFT collecting, with items from the collection being sold on the secondary market for millions of dollars.
Lately, stars like Steph Curry, Lil Baby, Jimmy Fallon, Snoop Dogg, and Jermaine Dupri are all shelling out top-dollar to be able to add the exclusive NFTs as their avatar on social media.
According to the Bored Ape Yacht Club website, there is a roadmap in place that will allow owners of the apes to participate in special community events and opportunities.
“BAYC is a collection of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs—unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain. Your Bored Ape doubles as your Yacht Club membership card, and grants access to members-only benefits, the first of which is access to THE BATHROOM, a collaborative graffiti board,” a description on the site reads.
It continues, “Future areas and perks can be unlocked by the community through roadmap activation.”
