xQc mocks NFTs, says he turned down “insane NFT sponsor offer” – WIN.gg

Felix “xQc” Lengyel is the latest Twitch streamer to air his disdain for NFTs.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are images or videos stored to the blockchain that can be sold or traded, usually with cryptocurrency. NFTs have been looked at as fertile ground in the esports and gaming industries, with many organizations taking part in NFT auctions or creating NFT artwork for fans to purchase. But NFTs are still considered a bit questionable by many since there have been a slew of scams and questionable business practices surrounding them.

Popular Twitch streamer xQc said on a recent stream that he was offered an “astronomical” sponsorship from an NFT company. Despite the “absolutely insane” offer, xQc was not interested.

“I received an absolutely insane NFT sponsor offer, and the amounts were astronomical. It was even more fun to tell them no,” xQc said.

xQc stated that the offer was $1.2 million for the popular influencer to do some retweets and shoutouts. While it was definitely an easy gig, xQc called it a “f-cking racket” and immediately shut it down.

He then took the opportunity to roast NFTs and their buyers, clearly not interested in being a part of the crypto community. xQc joked that the company planned to pay him in JPEGs, hinting that NFTs can simply be screenshotted and saved to one’s own device without paying any crypto.

xQc is barely alone in this viewpoint. Ludwig has voiced frustration with NFT companies, including one that used his face without his consent. Mizkif has also turned down NFT sponsorships, adding that he would get “hate” from Livestream Fail if he ever took part in that industry.

NFTs continue to be seen as an interesting new opportunity but there are also people who feel the technology is questionable regarding its legitimacy. More and more streamers have voiced frustration with the NFT trend.
